Since its inception in 1935, Social Security has been our country’s most reliable social program; it has never missed a payment. It provides a much needed safety net for some of our most vulnerable citizens. We must ensure that everyone in this country can live with dignity after retirement.
Social Security has a $2.9 trillion surplus and can pay every benefit owed to every eligible American for the next 16 years. Instead of cutting Social Security, we should be expanding it, thus ensuring that it remains solvent for generations to come.
Eliminating the cap, currently $132,900 is taxable income, on social security so that upper income earners pay their fair share into the system.
Increasing the minimum benefit paid to low-income workers.
Expanding benefits across the board, especially for seniors with incomes of $16,000 or less.
But remember: I only work for YOU; I only answer to YOU.
